  • TxDOT Adopt a Highway
  • Various projects for the elderly
  • YouthBuild

Youthbuild Community Service

As the supervisor that coordinates community service for the young men in the Youthbuild program, we get to help a variety of people in the community. Our favorite experience so far, has been being able to help a recipient of one of the homes that were built by Youthbuild in Gulf Coast Drive Subdivision in Willis, Texas. We had the pleasure of helping an 80-year-old woman that had several projects for us to do. The Youthbuild participants, the construction crew worker, and myself were able to waterproof the privacy fencing along her property, wash the exterior of her home, and clean up her yard and driveway. She has several health issues that hinder her from being able to do things around her home that she would love to do. The Youthbuild participants did such an amazing job on her home. She was in tears as she thanked us from the bottom of her heart. This wonderful woman was so impressed with the youth’s hard work, their manners, and their respectfulness. We have already established a plan to install a wheelchair ramp, and several other small projects for her. We are so blessed to be able to help someone like her, and others in the community.
